Officially founded in May 1974 during the Ontario Medical Association’s AGM, the Student Section of the OMA was started using the acronym “OMSA” (short for Ontario Medical Students Association) in 2004. Students at each of the six Ontario medical schools (Western, McMaster, Toronto, Queens, Ottawa, and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine) elect two representatives to serve on the Student Section Executive Council for a two-year term. In addition, these representatives elect two Co-Chairs, a Director of Communications, a Director of Representation, a Director of Services and an Information Officer/Treasurer to serve for a one year term.
